Kelly Clarkson once thought her career was over. The American Idol winner had been convinced of this following the birth of her child, because she lost her voice, she said, “I Thought Maybe “I Could Do More Charity Work”. The daughter of a first-grade English teacher and a former engineer had a hard time in June, 2014 when her daughter River Rose was born, and she felt her singing days were done for good, because “A Moment Like This” vocalist temporarily lost her raspy, pop-rock voice.
“Afterwards was the part where I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day,” Clarkson, 32, recently said during an interview with ET Canada. “I was like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not going to be a singer anymore!’”
“I was bawling to my husband and completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh, my God, it’s over,’” she continued. “‘I don’t know what I’m going to do.’”
Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock married in October 2013, her child was born in June, 2014, and sometimes new moms do experience hoarseness, but, luckily, Clarkson’s voice did eventually come back.
But if it didn’t? “I guess I could do more charity work,” she said at the time. “I didn’t know what I was going to do.”
